A food industry group is criticizing Facebook's ban on the promotion of milk, the Associated Press reported. Facebook also bans the promotion of gambling, guns and tobacco. However, the Center for Consumer Freedom -- a group supported by restaurants and food companies -- complained that dairy aids in healthy bones and should not be grouped with cigarettes and prescription painkillers in regards to banning promotions on the site. Facebook said it is abiding by varying state laws that prohibit giving dairy away as a prize and some even impose penalties for distributing dairy products at discounted rates. In an email statement, Facebook said it would soon revise its promotions guidelines to lift the total ban on dairy promotions and will simply prohibit giving it away as a prize.
