Vietnam Swine Industry Symposium Increases Interest of U.S. Feed Grains

The U.S. Grains Council recently hosted about 120 commercial swine producers at a swine Industry Symposium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, the U.S. Grains Council's Global Update reported. Attendees were educated on key managerial and technical issues. Adel Yusupov -- USGC regional director in southeast Asia -- said average backyard pigs eat about 110 pounds of corn, however, commercially produced hogs eat about 441 pounds of corn. By educating the country's commercial swine producers, the Council can double corn feed demand. He added that the future of U.S.-produced DDGS imports is promising, as Vietnam increased its imports of DDGS from 37,000 metric tons in September to 40,000 in October.
