The Show Must Go On

-- Reports as Scheduled Tuesday Morning

Economists with USDA's World Ag Outlook Board and number crunchers with the department's National Ag Statistics Service are still planning their monthly sleepover tonight at USDA headquarters in Washington, ahead of the release of the February supply and demand report and the monthly crop production report at 7:30 CST Tuesday.

It may actually be a welcome assignment, for some of the people involved may be glad to escape from the snow shoveling and neighborhoods without power in the DC area.

I spoke with one such official Sunday night, to be sure it was worth making the trek in from Omaha for the lockup, and he told me the lockup will go on as scheduled.

This month's report schedule is pretty light, with just a citrus report in the NASS crop production, and the usual S&Ds from the WAOB, which are not expected to contain any revisions of corn or soybean production. For that we'll have to wait for the March 10 edition.
