Cash Ethanol Rallies on Short-Covering Ahead of Holiday
Cash ethanol prices were higher, especially along the West Coast, although there was a lack of liquidity because traders were out early for the Fourth of July holiday weekend. A trade source said Arizona ethanol cash prices were pushed higher by a short-squeeze, with pre-weekend short-covering reported for most of the other regional hubs like Chicago and New York after federal data released Wednesday showed a weekly stock draw while demand edged higher. Argo prompt ethanol traded at $1.61 gallon and was last seen at $1.635 gallon for a 2.5cts gain while New York Harbor July cash prices were seen at $1.735 gallon for a 2.5cts gain. Arizona spot prices spiked 8.0cts to $1.85 gallon.
