Bangkok's prime minister announced Thursday the country's government will reduce import tariffs on vehicles that utilize e85 gasoline as part of its efforts to promote use of alternative fuel. The Bangkok Post reported that the country will declare a clear policy on tad reduction for E85-capable vehicles, even though Japanese carmakers had opposed it. Bangkok plans to reduce both excise and customers taxes, although the import tariff cut will be offered for only a year and a half, since Asian automotive manufacturers expect to produce E85-capable vehicles after that.
