NYH, West Coast Spot Ethanol Prices Buoyed by Export Demand

Spot ethanol prices climbed again early Friday, with gains in the New York Harbor and parts of the West Coast outpacing other regions amid talk of export demand at a time of declining supplies.

"Railcars are all moving to New York," said the source. "Lots of cargoes are being staged for exports," added another. This comes a day after federal data showed total ethanol stocks fell for the second week from an 18-month high as domestic plant output tumbled 1.8% while demand rose 3.1% last week.

Prompt N.Y. Harbor barge was talked at $1.91 to $1.96 per gallon bid/ask, and pegged at $1.93 per gallon for a gain of 4.0 cents. Arizona spot prices were pegged at $1.92 to $1.99 per gallon bid/ask, up 5.5 cents on the session.
