Levelland, Texas, officials expect a rail park to open in less than a year, which is being built for the Levelland/Hockley County Ethanol plant, the Lubbock Avalanche Journal in Lubbock, Texas, said. City leaders and community members Thursday broke ground on the $8.9 million project that encompasses 300 acres on the eastern edge of the city and four miles of track. Railroad Specialties Co. of Colorado will start construction just after Thanksgiving, and completion is set for early September 2010.
