OMAHA (DTN) -- Kip Cullers, who farms near Purdy, Mo., has set another soybean yield record. His 154-bushel-per-acre yield buried his 2006 record of 139 bushels per acre.

Last year's record was met with some skepticism by some soybean experts. Others were simply in disbelief. It was long thought that soybeans would only yield about 100 bushels per acre.

Cullers does not produce soybeans commercially but grows them largely as a hobby and a challenge. His focus is mainly on corn, green beans and other vegetables. His soybeans are an experiment, and farmers are fortunate to have someone like him ...
