OMAHA (DTN) -- The ongoing wet weather is delaying many post-emergence herbicide applications. Fortunately, cool weather the past few weeks has slowed the corn growth, so we can still get through many fields with spray equipment.

Besides damaging tall corn with the equipment, we can also cause injury and yield loss when some herbicides are sprayed on corn that has developed beyond the product’s label limit.

In most cases, post-emergence applications are made with Roundup, or other glyphosate products, or with Liberty (glufosinate). Crop height typically isn’t an issue in these weed-resistant hybrids, though weed height and proper control can ...
