Commodities Market Impact Weather

OMAHA (DTN) -- Favorably dry conditions across the Midwest and beneficial rain headed for the Black Sea region are the key weather items for the commodity trade's attention Thursday.

FAVORABLE MIDWEST PLANTING PROSPECTS

The DTN ag weather forecast again features the prospect of moderate-to-heavy rain in the eastern Midwest areas during the next seven days. The rain will hinder fieldwork and planting. The western Midwest has mostly drier conditions to favor additional planting progress.

MORE SOUTHERN PLAINS DRYNESS

The Southern Plains region again has stressful dry, windy and very warm to hot conditions in the forecast through early May. Wheat conditions are declining due to the impact of dryness along with freezes in mid-April. Shower chances in the next seven days are unlikely to ease the dryness impact.

LIGHT NORTHERN PLAINS SHOWERS

The Northern Plains region has only light scattered showers in store through the next week. The drier trend will be favorable for field drying and planting progress. Some dryness stress may develop in western sectors.

MINIMAL DELTA RAIN

The Delta weather pattern continues to feature mostly dry conditions through the next seven days. This trend will favor planting progress.

BLACK SEA RAIN FORECASTS

Black Sea region wheat areas have favorable moderate-to-locally heavy rain indicated through the next 10 days. This rain would be very beneficial to winter wheat and will be closely monitored.

VARIABLE RAIN FOR EUROPE

Central and northern Europe crop areas continue with a good chance for light-to-moderate rain over the next seven days. This would be important moisture for wheat areas and will be closely tracked.

MINIMAL BRAZIL RAIN

Across Brazil, the next seven days feature only light rain, while temperatures in central crop areas will be above normal. This pattern is unfavorable for safrinha corn. Southern areas will have light-to-moderate showers with slight improvement in crop conditions.

DRIER ARGENTINA PATTERN

Argentina crop areas continue with lighter rain forecast through the next seven days. The drier trend will favor harvest after recent delays due to moderate-to-heavy rain.

EASTERN AUSTRALIA RAIN

Across Australia, Western Australia wheat areas will be dry; more rain would be useful as wheat is seeded for germination. Eastern areas have light-to-moderate rain with locally heavy forecast in New South Wales. Soil moisture is notably improved for the new wheat crop planting and growth in eastern Australia wheat areas.
