The state government in Victoria, Australia announced it is working with a consortium of companies to research the feasibility of building an ethanol plant that will produce more than 53 million gallons of ethanol from household and construction waste, according to Waste Management World. The ethanol produced at the plant will be blended with gas to form an E85 ethanol blend. The research is hoped to be an important step toward sustainable motoring and greenhouse gas reduction in Australia. The consortium includes companies such as Holden, Caltex, Veolia, Mitsui and Coskata.
