Brazil's Ethanol Output, Sales Higher
NEW YORK (DTN) -- The Union of Sugarcane Industry Association, Brazil's largest trade group for sugarcane and ethanol producers, reported on Monday, Aug. 10, that 2.7 billion liters of ethanol were sold locally during July, up 8% from June sales while nearly 50% higher than July 2014 sales.
The increase in sales was due to rising domestic demand, with 91% of the hydrated ethanol supply in the country's South-Central region sold to domestic consumers while anhydrous ethanol sale rose only 0.4% to 856 million liters, according to the report.

The report also showed 2.2 billion liters of ethanol were produced in the second half of July, up from 2.0 billion liters produced during the second half of June and up 37% versus a year earlier.
Ethanol production increased with improved weather conditions, allowing trucks to ship sugarcane to ethanol millers that also cranked up their utilization rate.
Millers boosted the amount of sugarcane being processed into sugar and ethanol by 37% year over year to 49 million tons in July, the report added.
The United States is among the countries that imports Brazilian ethanol.
