The biggest percentage drop in stock market history happened on October 19, 1987 when the Dow Jones tumbled 23%. December corn fell 4% that day and regained much of its loss the following day. Price shocks from markets outside of grains generate media hype and can rattle traders, but rarely have significant impact on grain prices. (DTN chart)
