Spot Ethanol Prices Higher on Talk of Plant Run Cuts

Spot ethanol prices advanced for the fourth straight session Wednesday on continuing talk domestic ethanol production would decline as some plants shut down or cut back runs due to low margins.

"I would echo those concerns because we are also seeing a cutback in runs, and that's pushing up the market," a source said.

Chicago ethanol traded under Rule 11 for next week shipment traded a penny higher at $1.34 per gallon and at $1.33 per gallon. New York Harbor January ethanol barges changed hands $1.45 per gallon, up 1.5 cents. Houston spot ethanol prices on the Texas Gulf Coast were talked 6.0 cents above Chicago prices at $1.40 per gallon, up 1.75 cents.
