Spot Ethanol Prices Track Corn Futures Higher Monday
Spot ethanol prices edged higher Monday, boosted by an advance by Chicago Board of Trade corn futures ahead of a Department of Agriculture crop report due out on Tuesday that's expected to show a drop in ending corn stocks while corn planted acreage is expected to be 1.8 million acres less than a year ago, said Brendan Marshall, an analyst at Northstar Commodity Co.
Ethanol for prompt transfer at the Argo supply hub traded at $1.50 per gallon, up 1.5 cents on the day. New York Harbor April ethanol barges were talked at a $1.59 to $1.62 per gallon bid/ask spread, up 2.0 cents. Prompt ethanol shipment to northern California traded at $1.69 gallon, up 5.5 cents on the day. Spot ethanol at Phoenix, Arizona, hub traded at $1.67 per gallon, up 3.5 cents on the session.
