The chart looks at 13 years since 1970 when record corn yields were achieved and compares spot corn prices on September 30 with the same date of the following year. On average, spot corn prices were 27% higher in the following year with only two years showing lower prices.
A record corn yield in 2014 is bearish for prices now, but history shows a tendency for higher prices the following year.
