Spot Ethanol Values Mixed as Traders Eye Snowstorm

Spot ethanol prices were mixed in early trade Monday, talked a tad lower in the New York Harbor while higher in Chicago, the Southeast, and Gulf Coast while unchanged in California.

A snowstorm pounding the Northeast is slowing trucking and rail shipments, sources said. New York Harbor inventories are high, so there's no concern about supply there in the short term, but gasoline use is expected to be reduced by the inhospitable weather.

Prompt Argo ethanol was seen at a $1.345 to $1.365 per gallon bid/ask, up 2.5 cents. Prompt Harbor barge talked at $1.43 to $1.47 per gallon bid/ask, down 1.0 cent. California ethanol talked at a $1.47 to $1.55 per gallon bid/ask, unchanged.
