Biomass-based diesel D4 Renewable Identification Numbers continue brisk trade, in contrast to physical biodiesel, with RIN values softening in trading this week, sources said.

Wednesday morning 2.0 million 2015 D4 RINs traded at 85 cents, down 0.5 cents on the week, with 500,000 2014 D4 RINs traded at 75 cents, flat so far this week.

Physical trade remains listless, further aggravated this week with many traders out of the office to attend an ethanol conference in Dallas. "The market is dead quiet so far," a trader said this morning.

RINs are used by obligated parties to show compliance with the Renewable Fuel Standard.
