OMAHA (DTN) -- Snow and ice affecting livestock and transportation in the Midwest, and widespread coverage of showers in central Brazil, are the primary weather items for the commodity trade's attention Monday.

WINTRY MIX IN MIDWEST

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for flooding due to heavy weekend rain in the southeastern Midwest. Some soft wheat damage may have occurred. Elsewhere, ice and snow will cause transportation delays and livestock stress early this week.

STRESSFUL EARLY WEEK IN SOUTHERN PLAINS

In the Southern Plains, weekend snow and ice mean increased stress to livestock and transportation disruptions. Heavy rain and possible severe flooding may be somewhat unfavorable in some wheat fields. Milder conditions are indicated for much of the 10-day period.

SHOWERS ACROSS BRAZIL

In Brazil, rain and showers will favor development of earlier planted corn and soybeans through south and east-central crop areas. Some delay to planting is possible. Episodes of scattered showers and thundershowers help improve conditions for soybeans in Mato Grosso as well during this week.

DRY AND MILD IN ARGENTINA

Argentina will be warmer and drier during the next week. Soil moisture and temperatures will favor developing crops during this period. This pattern also favors additional planting.

SEASONALLY-COLD IN RUSSIA

Russia and Ukraine crop areas will see colder weather, but not damaging cold, this next week. Snow may occur through central and south areas early in the period.

SOUTH AFRICA DRY PATTERN

In South Africa, hot weather redeveloped at the end of the week, followed by brief cooling during the weekend. Episodes of high temperatures with limited rain chances threaten crops during this season.
