OMAHA (DTN) -- A more-promising rain forecast for northern Brazil soybean areas, and widespread central U.S. rain and snow, are the primary weather items for the commodity trade's attention Wednesday.

LARGE MIDWEST STORM SYSTEM

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for moderate to heavy rain in southern and eastern Midwest areas during the Thanksgiving Day holiday, while western and northern areas see a mix of freezing rain and snow. The freezing rain and snow will cause transportation and travel disruption. Rain will favor soil moisture for winter wheat along with bolstering moisture supplies ahead of next season's row crop planting.

HEAVY SOUTHERN PLAINS PRECIPITATION

Across the Southern Plains, moderate to heavy rain during the rest of this week will maintain adequate to surplus soil moisture for winter wheat development. There is also some risk for local flooding in southeast and south-central areas. Freezing rain is also possible in the next few days. This occurrence would disrupt travel and transportation along with being stressful to livestock.

POSSIBLE NORTHERN BRAZIL RAIN

In Brazil, showers will favor development of earlier planted corn and soybeans through south and east-central crop areas. Some delay to planting is possible. Northern areas, including Mato Grosso, are seeing some development of scattered showers to help ease stress to soybeans, but more widespread rain and lower temperatures are still needed.

FAVORABLE ARGENTINA RAIN

In central Argentina, continued rounds of scattered thunderstorms favor developing wheat and earlier planted corn. Soil moisture is very favorable for crops due to the consistent rainfall.

VARIABLE RUSSIA PRECIPITATION

Variable precipitation is forecast for Russia and Ukraine during the rest of this week. The weather will be cool but not cold. This is a non-threatening pattern for winter wheat.

VARIABLE SOUTH AFRICA TEMPERATURES

South Africa crop areas have returned to hotter weather. The heat eases Thursday with a few showers indicated as well. Additional rain is needed for favorable crop development.
