Seasonal Midwest Conditions
OMAHA (DTN) -- The first snow of the season for the Midwest, and continued rain chances in central Brazil this weekend, are the primary weather items for the commodity trade's attention Friday.
WESTERN MIDWEST SNOW
The DTN ag weather forecast calls for a round of moderate-to-heavy snow in the western Midwest early in the weekend. This snow will cause some livestock stress and disrupt transportation. Light precipitation is in store elsewhere. We continue to see favorable conditions for pre-winter development of wheat.
MOSTLY FAVORABLE SOUTHERN PLAINS PATTERN
In the Southern Plains, recent rain and warm weather favor winter wheat development in most of the region. A brief cold snap may bring readings below normal for a time. However, it won't be stressfully cold. Precipitation chances increase during the next seven days.
WEEKEND SHOWERS FOR CENTRAL BRAZIL
In central Brazil, light-to-moderate rain is in store for Mato Grosso and Goias during the next three to five days. However, a slow start to the rainy season has caused some stress to emerged soybeans and may slow germination of recently planted crops.

CONTINUED SOUTHERN BRAZIL RAIN
Southern Brazil remains wet. This pattern mostly favors corn and soybean development, but will disrupt later planting. The wet trend is also unfavorable for wheat and wheat harvest.
RAIN POTENTIAL FOR BRAZIL COFFEE
Periods of showers remain in the forecast for Brazil coffee and sugarcane regions during the next week to 10 days. This should favor flowering to developing coffee and developing sugarcane.
DRIER IN ARGENTINA
Central Argentina has a drier and warmer period setting up. This will favor spring fieldwork and planting and promote more rapid development of wheat, corn and soybeans. Soil moisture is favorable.
PROMISING RUSSIA MOISTURE
Russia and Ukraine crop areas have cold but not stressful weather in store during the 10-day period. In addition, episodes of rain and some snow will offer soil moisture benefit for winter wheat ahead of dormancy.
DRY FOR AUSTRALIA HARVEST
Australia's winter wheat areas continue with minimal to zero rain forecast this week. This pattern will be favorable for wheat ripening and harvest progress.
ADDITIONAL SOUTH AFRICA SHOWERS
South Africa crop areas have additional showers through Saturday. After that, a drier trend is indicated. Rainfall will encourage increasing planting activity for maize and will favor development of sugarcane.
