OMAHA (DTN) -- A warm and dry pattern for continued harvest progress across the central U.S. and a chance for showers in central Brazil are the primary weather items for the commodity trade's attention Friday.

WARM AND DRY CENTRAL CROP AREAS

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for additional dry and mild conditions for corn and soybean harvest for the Midwest, Delta, Northern Plains, and Canadian Prairies. Light showers through the weekend will cause only minor delays in progress.

DRY WEEKEND IN SOUTHERN PLAINS

In the Southern Plains, more rain is needed for newly-planted wheat. However, there is still very little rain in the forecast through the next seven days, along with above-normal to much-above-normal temperatures.

DRY TREND IN DELTA

The Delta continues with a dry pattern. Conditions are favorable for corn and soybean harvest. However, soil moisture issues are forming regarding winter wheat.

POSSIBLE CENTRAL BRAZIL RAIN

Central Brazil has a chance for light to moderate rain in the next five days. This prospect will be watched closely for the potential of improving soil moisture for soybean planting.

LIMITED RUSSIA AND UKRAINE RAIN

Dry conditions remain dominant in wheat areas of Russia and Ukraine. The best chance for showers in the next week is over the North Caucasus crop region. A cold temperature pattern is also stressful to early-developing winter wheat.

DRY FOR AUSTRALIA WHEAT

Across Australia wheat areas, West Australia has light showers through Saturday, followed by hotter and drier conditions. Eastern Australia areas will have a few showers through the weekend and slight cooling. However, a hot and dry pattern returns to the eastern crop areas during next week as well.

EXTENDED SOUTH AFRICA DRYNESS

South Africa's major crop areas continue with an El Nino-induced very warm to hot and dry pattern for at least the next seven days.
