OMAHA (DTN) -- Warm and dry conditions across the central U.S. and continued very limited rain in Russia and Australia wheat areas are the primary weather items for the commodity trade's attention Thursday.

WARM AND DRY MIDWEST

The DTN ag weather forecast calls for additional dry and mild conditions for corn and soybean harvest across the Midwest. Light showers through the end of the week will cause only minor delays in progress.

MINIMAL SOUTHERN PLAINS RAIN

In the Southern Plains, more rain is needed for newly planted wheat. However, there is very little rain in the forecast through the next seven days, along with above-normal to much-above-normal temperatures.

WARM AND DRY NORTH

Northern Plains and Canadian Prairies crop areas continue with dry and mild conditions through the rest of this week. This combination will favor continued harvest progress.

DRY TREND IN DELTA

The Delta continues with a dry pattern. Conditions are favorable for corn and soybean harvest. However, soil moisture issues are forming regarding winter wheat.

CENTRAL BRAZIL RAIN CHANCE

Central Brazil has very little rain indicated through the weekend. This pattern continues to delay widespread soybean planting. In southern Brazil, in contrast, wet conditions in Parana and Rio Grande do Sul will cause some delays in planting progress.

LIMITED RUSSIA AND UKRAINE RAIN

Dry conditions remain dominant in wheat areas of Russia and Ukraine. The best chance for showers in the next week is over the North Caucasus crop region.

SCATTERED AUSTRALIA RAIN

In Australia's wheat regions, there is a chance for showers in central New South Wales during the next five days. However, these rains will not be sufficient to reverse the recent drier trend and concern over a reduction in crop size.

ADDITIONAL SOUTH AFRICA DRYNESS

South Africa's major crop areas continue with an El Nino-induced very warm to hot and dry pattern for at least the next seven days.
