State Crop Report Wrap-Up
There are no big surprises with the final edition of weekly state crop reports for 2015.
Most of the corn and soybean harvests are complete. Nebraska reported that in the Panhandle, melting snow and high moisture corn slowed the remaining harvest.Meanwhile, North Dakota reported that frozen soils allowed for the remaining corn to be harvested. Rain and snow in Iowa has slowed post-harvest fieldwork activities, with reports that this has been the wettest November in the state since 1992. Winter wheat has entered dormancy in the Ohio Valley. Some soybeans remain to be harvested in the southern U.S., especially in the southeast states.
Soil moisture going into winter is mostly adequate across the entire central U.S. and is mostly equal to or wetter than a year ago. This is favorable for winter wheat crops and for planting conditions going into the 2016 growing season.
