Texas Rail Park to Open in 2010

Levelland, Texas, officials expect a rail park to open in less than a year, which is being built for the Levelland/Hockley County Ethanol plant, the Lubbock Avalanche Journal in Lubbock, Texas, said. City leaders and community members Thursday broke ground on the $8.9 million project that encompasses 300 acres on the eastern edge of the city and four miles of track.

Four snowplows were dispatched to clear wet distillers grain from the roadway after a truck left parts of its load on Interstate 94 west of Fargo, S.D., the Jamestown Sun reported. The wet distillers grain became slippery enough, according to responding highway patrol officers, that a minivan slid out of control and was hit by a car.

Heavy rains have damaged crops across the state of Mississippi, but cotton and peanut crops along the Gulf coast won't be a total wash out, Gulf Live.com reported on Thursday. Heavy rains that fell in Virginia last week has caused damage to some of the state's crops but the extent of losses are still unknown, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported on Tuesday.
