Argo, NYH Ethanol Spot Prices Down on Weak Demand, Oversupply

Spot ethanol prices eased in Chicago and New York during in a thinly traded session Thursday as supply continues to run ahead of demand, with trade sources saying a number of ethanol plants are considering reducing runs due to low margins.

"Green Plains indicated they are slowing plants down a bit due to [poor] crush margins," said a source.

Today transferred ethanol at the Argo hub near Chicago traded at $1.35 and $1.36 per gallon, down 0.5 cents. February delivered barges at the New York Harbor was offered at $1.44 per gallon, down 0.5 cents, while March barges were offered at $1.45 per gallon, down 2.0 cents.
