Spot ethanol prices extended losses in Chicago and other regional hubs after the Energy Information Administration reported an increase for domestic ethanol production while inventories jumped to a record high.

The agency reported total stocks rose 600,000 bbl or 2.7% to 23.0 million bbl in the week ended Feb. 5 and plant production ramped up 10,000 bpd to 969,000 bpd. Chicago ethanol traded under Rule 11 for this week shipment was talked at a $1.35 to $1.36 per gallon bid/ask, down 4.5 cents on the session.
