Spot Ethanol Prices, RINs Rally on EPA Decision

The values of spot ethanol and renewable fuel credits rallied Tuesday on higher demand after the Environmental Protection Agency issued the final renewable fuel volumes for 2014 through 2016.

The rule raises the amount of ethanol required for blending with gasoline from the EPA's spring proposal, but falls short of the rising levels required by the federal statute.

Today transfer ethanol at the Argo hub near Chicago traded 2.5 cents higher at $1.515 per gallon. A December barge at New York Harbor was pegged 4.25 cents higher at $1.61 per gallon and Arizona ethanol prices seen at $1.67 per gallon, up 3.0 cents.

In the credits market, 2015 D6 RINs jumped 28.5 cents on the session, trading at 71.0 cents, 75.0 cents, 77.0 cents, 85.0 cents, 87.0 cents and 90.0 cents. 2015 D4 RINs for biodiesel traded at 80.0 cents, 85.0 cents, 90.0 cents and 85.0 cents, up 17.5 cents.
