Sluggish Demand, Higher Supply Pressure Spot Ethanol Prices
Spot ethanol prices continued lower Wednesday after the U.S. Energy Information Administration said domestic ethanol stocks rose in the week-ended Oct. 30 by 501,000 bbl or 2.7% to 18.774 million bbl; 10,000 bpd of ethanol was imported into the country, while domestic ethanol production surged 25,000 bpd or 2.6% to 969,000 bpd.
Prompt delivered ethanol at the Argo hub near Chicago was pegged at $1.54 and $1.545 per gallon, down 1.0 cent. Any November Argo ethanol traded at $1.525 per gallon, down 1.5 cents. New York Harbor November barges were assessed 2.25 cents lower at $1.64 per gallon, while northern California ethanol was assessed at $1.69 per gallon for a loss of 4.0 cents.
