Spot Ethanol Prices Lifted by Supply-Demand Tightness

Spot ethanol prices were slightly higher on Tuesday amid talk of "tight physical market" conditions that offset weaker corn and RBOB futures, trade sources said. Trade volume was choppy. Prompt ethanol at the Argo terminal was discussed at a $1.45 to $1.46 gallon bid/ask, up 1.0 cent. Chicago ethanol under Rule 11 for this week shipment was seen at a $1.45 to $1.46 gallon bid/ask, up 0.5 cent, while Nebraska spot ethanol was talked at $1.35 to $1.38 gallon, up 1.0 cent. August ethanol barges at the New York Harbor were talked at a $1.52 to $1.54 bid/ask, for a gain of 1.5 cents.
