Spot Ethanol Prices Retreat on Concerns over Demand

U.S. cash ethanol prices were discussed lower again during a choppy early session Monday on demand concerns while supply is reportedly ample.

Traders expect the Energy Information Administration's data for the week-ended July 10 when released Wednesday to show a ramp-up in U.S. ethanol output and build in stocks and continued decline in blending demand.

Prompt transfer ethanol at the Argo supply terminal was talked at $1.52 per gallon for a 2.0-cents loss, while New York Harbor July barges were discussed at $1.60 per gallon, down 1.0 cent. Prompt shipment of California ethanol was talked at a $1.65 to $1.68 per gallon bid/ask, down 1.5 cents on the session.
