Spot Ethanol Price Gains Backed by Corn Futures Rally
U.S. spot ethanol prices advanced Thursday, spurred by a rally for Chicago Board of Trade corn futures and ongoing support from Wednesday's reported weekly draw in domestic ethanol inventories.
"Argo ethanol traded $1.54 earlier and is likely higher now with corn," said a trader. This week shipment of Chicago ethanol under Rule 11 also traded at $1.54 per gallon, up more than a penny. A New York Harbor July ethanol barge was valued at $1.64 per gallon, up 1.5 cents, while this week delivered ethanol in northern California and Arizona traded at $1.70 per gallon for a gain of 2.0 cents.
