U.S. spot ethanol prices moved higher Tuesday, snapping a five-session selloff spurred by excess production and last week's decision by the Environmental Protection Agency to cut biofuel mandates for 2014, 2015, and 2016.

The gains for ethanol prices today were underpinned by higher gasoline and corn prices and it comes ahead of weekly ethanol supply report. Prompt Argo transfer traded early at $1.5125, $1.515 and $1.52 per gallon, up 2.0 cents. New York Harbor June ethanol barges was assessed at $1.615 gallon, up 1.5 cents. Ethanol in California traded at $1.65 per gallon, up 1.0 cent on the day.
