Spot Ethanol Prices Higher Early Monday on Short-Covering
Spot ethanol prices edged higher Monday, tracking gains in the paper market amid short-covering. The upside for ethanol was curbed, however, by easing corn and gasoline markets. In cash trade, prompt transfer ethanol at Argo near Chicago traded at $1.60 gallon and was then talked at a $1.60 to $1.61 gallon bid/ask, up 0.5cts. Chicago ethanol traded under Rule 11 for this week shipment was discussed at $1.59 gallon for a daily gain of 4.5cts. New York Harbor May ethanol barges were offered at $1.725 gallon, up 3.0cts, with June barges talked at a $1.68 to $1.69 gallon bid/ask, up 1.5cts.
