Spot Ethanol Prices Retreat on Weaker Corn Futures, Demand

Spot ethanol prices tracked weaker Chicago Board of Trade corn futures after the U.S. Department of Agriculture reported net sales of 832,500 metric tons for delivery in 2014/2015 crop season that were down 4.0% from a week prior. A softer ethanol demand outlook also weighed down spot prices following Energy Information Administration data released Wednesday showing blender inputs eased 4,000 bpd last week to 875,000 bpd while total stocks fell 2.6% but are up 20.8% on the year. Prompt Argo ethanol was talked at a $1.60 to $1.62 gallon bid/ask, down 2.0cts. Chicago ethanol traded under Rule 11 traded at $1.64 gallon, down 1.0cts. New York Harbor May ethanol barges were talked at a $1.71 to $1.73 gallon bid/ask, down 2.5cts, while June Harbor barges traded at $1.715 gallon, down 1.0cts.
