Spot ethanol prices rallied Wednesday after the U.S. Energy Information Administration reported ethanol inventories last week plummeted 800,000 bbl to a 10-week low of 20.5 million bbl, although implied demand rose only 3,000 bpd to 869,000 bpd.

Ethanol for prompt transfer at the Argo supply terminal near Chicago traded at $1.53 per gallon for a gain of 6.0 cents on the session. New York Harbor April delivered ethanol barges traded at $1.635 per gallon for a 5.5 cents gain on the day. This week shipment of northern California ethanol traded at $1.70 per gallon, up 6.5 cents on the session.
