Spot Ethanol Prices Retreat Again on Bearish Fundamentals

Spot ethanol prices in New York and Chicago were under selling pressure Tuesday on excess supply, low demand for prompt delivered products and a strong dollar.

"The Argo market is under pressure on the front end of the forward curve, but the back-end is still supported," said a trade source. Prompt Argo ethanol traded at $1.40 and $1.395 per gallon, down 0.5 cents. Chicago Rule 11 was talked at a $1.42 to $1.47 per gallon bid/ask. New York Harbor March barges talked 2.25 cents lower at a $1.48 to $1.495 per gallon bid/ask.
