U.S. exports of ethanol and dried distillers grain with solubles have both fallen since December 2014, according to an article by the Renewable Fuels Association (http://bit.ly/…).

Exports of ethanol have fallen 9% since December, while exports of dried distillers grains with solubles fell 3%. In fact, DDGS exports are totaling about 22% less than levels one year ago.

The good news is that the DDGS market in China continues to recover. Previously, the largest importer of U.S. DDGS, China was purchasing 24% of total U.S. production. However, trade dwindled to a virtual standstill in the past year when China began to reject shipments of DDGS containing the MIR 162 biotech trait that was unapproved at that time. In December 2014, China approved the trait and its demand for DDGS is building.

According to RFA, January exports to China rose 35% from December 2014 levels and from near zero in November 2014.
