Spot Ethanol Prices Mixed in Lackluster Early Session
Spot ethanol prices were mixed Monday, with West Coast values easing on a lack of buying interest and losses for corn and gasoline futures while Chicago and New York prices were holding onto modest gains during a thinly-traded early session Monday.
Some traders speculate demand for ethanol would increase in the medium-term when gasoline demand picks up ahead of the spring and summer driving seasons. Prompt Argo ethanol traded 0.5 cents higher at $1.42 per gallon while New York Harbor barges rose 0.5 cents to $1.54 per gallon. Northern California ethanol changed hands at $1.61 per gallon for a 2-cents loss.
