Chicago, Northeast Spot Ethanol Rises Ahead of Snowstorm

Spot ethanol prices traded higher in Chicago and along the East Coast amid concerns a historic snowstorm expected to hit the Northeast later today would delay product shipments this week.

States of emergency have been declared across the region, with travel bans starting this evening to allow utility vehicles free access to interstate highways and local roads.

Today transfer ethanol at Argo traded twice at $1.45 per gallon and was talked last at $1.45 to $1.47 per gallon bid/ask up 2.75 cents on the day. Chicago ethanol traded under Rule 11 for ethanol for this week transit to the East Coast, West Coast and Gulf Coast traded at $1.43 per gallon. New York Harbor prices were pegged at $1.55 per gallon for a 3-cent gain.
