Spot biodiesel prices held flat in early thin trade Monday, after surging more than 20 cents per gallon at the Chicago and Houston hubs and more than 25 cents at New York Harbor last week on a renewed $1 gallon blender's credit signed into law Friday, Dec. 19, by President Barack Obama.

The credit is retroactive for this year and will not likely affect prices next year, sources said.

"The $1 credit is only good for two more weeks," explained a trader.

Spot soy methyl ethyl biodiesel prices were last heard unchanged at $3.085 gallon for the key hubs of Chicago and Houston Monday after spiking 21.5 cents last week. New York Harbor held steady at $3.135 gallon, after soaring 26.5 cents last week.
