Spot Ethanol Prices under Pressure from Rising Output
Spot ethanol prices declined sharply in midmorning trade after the Energy Information Administration reported domestic ethanol production soared to a fresh record high, up 2,000 barrels per day (bpd) last week to 990,000 bpd. Today in-tank transfer ethanol at the Argo hub traded at $1.77 gallon for an 11cts loss. December New York Harbor ethanol barge was talked at $1.80 to $1.85 gallon bid/ask, down 13.5 cents, while ethanol delivered to California traded at $1.85 gallon, down 10 cents on the day.
