Spot Ethanol Prices at Argo Slump on Excess Supply
Spot ethanol prices fell midweek after data showed domestic ethanol inventories rose to an 18.8-million-barrel better-than-18-month high last week while demand was sluggish. The physical market was very thin, said a trader, adding, "Everyone is sitting still." Buyers are willing to wait out the market because there's a glut of supply while sellers feel prices have fallen too low too fast. Prompt delivered Argo ethanol was valued at parity with any-October ethanol, with a trade reportedly concluded at $1.55 gallon, down 3.0 cents.
