Spot Ethanol Prices Weaken Further as Supply Outpaces Demand
Spot ethanol prices fell again Thursday after new data showed a rebound in the nation's ethanol supply while demand slumped.
The Energy Information Administration reported domestic ethanol inventories rose about 400,000 bbl or 2.1% to 17.7 million bbl during the week-ended Aug. 29, with most of the price drop was seen in the Midwest and East Coast. Prompt Argo ethanol was talked at a $2.12 to $2.14 gallon bid/ask, down 2.0 cents. Prompt New York Harbor barge was talked at a $2.12 to $2.17 per gallon bid/ask, down 4.0 cents. Prompt Arizona ethanol traded at $2.30 per gallon, down 4.0 cents.
