Biodiesel D4 RINs Hold Steady in Thin Markets
Renewable Identification Numbers -- the credits used by obligated parties to show compliance with annual Renewable Fuel Standard mandates, for 2014 D4 biomass-based diesel traded flat to Friday at 54.5 cents.
"I think offers are thin, but there's not much interest either way currently," commented one trade source.
"They are trading (at an ethanol to biodiesel) spread right now," a broker added, with D4 RINs trading at a 3.0 cents to 3.5 cents premium to D6 2014 RINs, which traded at 51.5 cents this morning. D6 RINs are primarily generated by corn-based ethanol production.
