Spot ethanol prices rallied for the second straight session Thursday amid rising demand and falling supplies, with Midwest inventories at a five-month low.

"Demand for ethanol is up and we're going into Memorial Day weekend," said analyst Phil Flynn at Price Futures Group in Chicago, with Memorial Day the kickoff to seasonally higher driving demand.

Prompt ethanol at Argo traded $2.35 and $2.36 per gallon, up 4.5 cents, with southern California ethanol traded at $2.62 per gallon, up 3.5 cents. New York Harbor barged ethanol was talked in a $2.35 to $2.39 per gallon bid/ask spread, up 5.0 cents.
