The U.S. Grains Council is reporting that U.S.-produced dried distillers grains with solubles and corn gluten meal are not included in the list of exports subjects to new import regulations in Malaysia.

According to an article on the Council's website (http://bit.ly/…), Malaysia recently published a list of agricultural products that will be subject to strict import regulations, such as fumigation, and burdensome sanitary and phytosanitary documentation. Many feared that DDGS and CGM would be included on that list, creating a hardship for U.S. exporters.

While U.S. corn was not on the list, corn meal is included and the regulation did not specify whether DDGS and CGM are considered corn meal.

After an official letter of inquiry and request for clarification, the Council confirmed with the Malaysian government that DDGS and CGM are not included on the list of products subject to the new regulations.
