Spot Ethanol Prices Pressured on Building Supply

Spot ethanol value plunged during a lackluster session early Friday, with traders concerned domestic supply has outpaced demand after midweek data showed ethanol stocks soared to a 10-week high last week, and East Coast stocks spiked to a near eight-month high. "West Coast rail is very weak," said a trader. "I'm not playing today," added another trader. May 9 Argo ethanol traded at $2.14 gallon, off 10.0 cents. May ethanol barge at the New York Harbor was pegged at $2.24 gallon, down 12.5 cents. Northern California prompt ethanol was seen at $2.34 gallon, down 5.5 cents.
