The U.S. Grains Council is continuing its valuable work to ensure future exports of dried distillers grains with solubles to China, according to an article on the Council's website (http://bit.ly/…).

China, recently taking back its spot as the largest importer of U.S. DDGS, instituted a registration program for ethanol plants which produce livestock feed ingredients to China four years ago. In 2012, the country's Ministry of Agriculture announced that the list of ingredients covered by the policy included DDGS.

The registration process requires ethanol plants to send the agriculture ministry a detailed dossier, which is then referred to the China National Feed Industry Association to be reviewed. Once evaluated, CFIA sends the application back to ministry for the final approval process. Only when approval is granted through the ag ministry are plants legally registered to export DDGS to China.

The Council has assisted 58 U.S. ethanol plants work through the certification process since 2012. Plants that received approval include one from ACE Ethanol and 11 from POET.

The Council's website (http://www.grains.org) lists all ethanol plants certified by China's ag ministry that are Council members.
