NYH Spot Ethanol Prices Rally on Talk of Shipping Woes
Spot ethanol prices rose to a three-month high in the New York Harbor Friday amid dwindling supply, as product deliveries are taking longer to get to the Harbor.
Trains to New York are being rerouted to avoid bottlenecks in the Chicago area, where bad weather caused logistical woes, a trade source said. East Coast stocks fell to 4.9 million bbl last week, the lowest since early January, according to federal data.
New York Harbor March-delivered ethanol barges were talked at $3.55 per gallon early and then offered at $3.60 gallon, up 12.5 cents on the day, with April-delivered barges talked around $2.90 per gallon, up 5.0 cents.
